Transaural aims to reproduce binaural spatialization through a stereophonic system. Rather than using headphones, the algorithm reproduces the left and right binaural channels on each of the loudspeakers.
Let us recall that the illusion of a 3D sound scene reproduced over headphones also relies on the fact that the left channel signal only affects the left ear, and the right channel only the right ear. The challenge is to achieve the same result with two loudspeakers.

In order to ensure that the signal diffused by the left loudspeaker (likewise for the right loudspeaker) reaches only the left ear, the algorithm uses the right loudspeaker to cancel the left signal at the right ear. This is a cancellation of the cross-paths, a reduction of interaural crosstalk.
The conditions are thus reproduced for the reproduction of a 3D sound scene (similar to headphone listening) but only at the sweet-spot.
